HMJ Consultants are currently based in the UK in Newcastle and London.
In 2007 Helen became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts
Between 1984 and 2006, Helen Joseph was based at the Shipley Art Gallery,
Tyne and Wear. During this period she was Keeper of Contemporary Craft specialising
in: ceramics, glass, metalwork, textiles, wood, furniture and jewellery.
She consolidated the existing collection, extended it and achieved a reputation
of national importance for the collection.
Her expertise as a curator of contemporary applied exhibitions is outstanding
and she is highly regarded on a national level for this work.
She also successfully developed a sustainable education programme on contemporary craft throughout the North East region, including delivery
of workshops and summer schools.
Prior to 1984 Helen taught ceramics and was an exhibiting quiltmaker
and ceramicist in her own right.
